The Beach (brilliant book - tragically badly made movie - THEY Changed the storyline!!!)

DO you prefer to read in silence or with music on? (I prefer silence or unintrusive classical music)

I cannot read at all with any noise whatsoever. Nor can I sleep or do anything much else. I'm very noise sensitive.

I have seen it, but it was a bad print on a local cable channel. I might have to rent it just to get a better look at it.

I just had a hay-fever attack while sitting in the front row for one of the UK's premier standups. Thank God the guy was good at improv. So Bee you can amend my response to your "most embarrassing" question.

Is there anything you want me to research for you?

Acquired neurological disorders, voice anatomy and voice disorders, and cochlear implants. Cheers! Also, if while you're at it you could knock up a research proposal for me, that'd be very handy.

What should you be doing right now instead of replying to this?

Amazingly, nothing. Everything is done for the day, including all laundry and dishes, and I am blessedly scheduled off work tomorrow as well. Plus, my husband is away traveling to the east coast on business. I shall commemorate this rare event with a glass (or two) of nice merlot and a good read from Goblet of Fire. (I have a lot of reading to do before July 21!)

What's your guilty pleasure when you are all by yourself with nothing better to do?

Playing the Sims 2 computer game. Though my sister has been hogging it for the last two days. I'm serious, I went to bed around 2am last night and she was playing it, and woke up to her playing it this morning at 9:45. I asked her if she'd moved since and she got all snippy. I take that as a no.

What is your favorite PC game?

Baldur's Gate I and II; it's the closest video games have come to a novel. Still haven't finished it. Can't beat that bloody dragon.

Grumbles...

Dragons or demons?

I love freshly squeezed juices, but I hate cleaning the juicer so I rarely make one for myself, therefore at home I drink carton juices. Quite often when I'm out shopping I treat myself to a juice or a smoothie.

I wish I'd done my teaching diploma for speech and drama. I already have a performance diploma, but I wish I'd seen the whole process through to the end. Not that I plan on ever teaching, but I spent over 10 years working my way through the grades and it would have been nice to have achieved the highest one. I've always intended on going back to finish it off, but as time goes by it's looking increasingly unlikely that I ever will.

What do you usually have for breakfast?

Breakfast is my favorite meal, because I'm a nerd like that. Usually I just have some instant oatmeal (I'm trying to eat better), but when I go all out, I'll have scrambled eggs and bacon on an egg bagel with homefries on the side. Carbs!!! YAY!

Today I saw someone at work with a weird, huge bandage on his elbow of all places. It was taped with medical tape so I suspect he'd seen a doctor in the past 24 hours.

What do you think happened to him?

Well, speaking as someone who falls down a lot, I'd say he fell down and slammed his elbow either against a rough surface or the road. He also might have been thrown against a glass window, and thrown his arm in front of his face to protect himself.

I once went swimming in the Atlantic while a hurricane was moving in on the coastline. Lifeguards were off-duty (perhaps off-season too, I'm not sure), and the waves were insane. My mom yelled at me later.

(As a side note, diricrawl, i found out the bandaged man in question took a nasty spill while trying to run in the rain. well done!!)

What's the weather going to be like for you this weekend?

It's supposed to be sunny with temps in the mid-20's (oC... whatever that is Farenheit. I think it's in the 80s) and I have Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off!! I'm so pumped.

I bought "The Last Templar" by Raymond Khoury. It's not half-bad if you like those silly/fun religious mysteries. Also, he can write far better than Dan Brown can.

Do you find you can only read books from certain authors, or do you read a variety?

I read a variety. Sure I'll buy a book because of the author, but it doesn't always mean anything. With the last book I read I didn't like the author's style, but I enjoyed the story so I finished it.

Can you walk in stillettos?? (I just bought my first pair and I'm having trouble with them. My sister says I look like a nine year-old wearing her mother's shoes)

An earthworm. I think it would be more likely to survive, and - most importantly - make less of a mess.

Ocean's Thirteen. If you liked the first two (or at least the first one) you'd like it. It's pretty much the same thing.

Do you still buy CDs?
