Not very punctual. The doctor said he was going to a meeting, my mom told him she was going to have the baby soon. He told her she wasn't ready and it would be hours. So he went to the meeting and I was born without the aid of a doctor and just my dad in the labor room. They said the birth happened so quickly that they couldn't even get a nurse in until after the birth. The whole story sounds like a bad sitcom episode with my dad and even the doctor cracking jokes.

Is there anything better than holding a newborn?

Many things, at least for me. I have very bad coordination and tend to drop things without warning so holding babies is not something I do unless under duress. I've been accused of child abuse more than once.

No idea. I think our Siamese cat Sirikat was about 16 when she died- that's pretty old.

Nope, but I came close once. It was a 1 credit course that didn't affect my GPA and really meant nothing and I got a D out of protest. The University made you go to all these on-campus events and forced participation and since I grew up in that college town I'd already done everything and I was a working commuter with no time to take off work to go to some stupid basketball game. Oddly, I went on to actually help teach a session of it when I was in grad school. Other than that I usually got A's or B's and in high school and the occassional C's.

When I was 5 I had carbon monoxide poisoning and spent 6 days in hospital. I remember it being horrible as they did not allow parents to stay and I wanted my Mum with me.
I also spent 3 nights in hospital when I had each of my boys.

Constantly. It's my hobby. This month I picked up three new pieces of art -- two for the living room and one for the dining room.

I wish I had had a magic wand so I could wave it and all those pesky housekeeping chores would be done. The grass cut, the dishes washed, the carpet swept, the laundry folded, and everything neatly put away and organized. I know if I had some initiative I could do all that myself, but I'm lazy and hate housework.

Yes, a family-owned Italian restaurant in Troy. It's not exactly "local" to us, but well worth the drive. It has a great menu plus a great wine list, and it's not too formal to be fun. Yum!

Swim. Swim. Swim. Or if we're inside we write and draw and listen to music. And try to eat non hot meals. We've been going through batches of hummus...and lots of fresh frit and lemonade. Then we wait to do more strenuous outdoors stuff after dusk. We even wait to sit out on the porch swing until later.

Dogs..or cats?

No. But I do twirl my hair quite a bit. Which I suppose could be considered a nervous habit too.

That's a tough question, but I'd hazard a guess of $200-$300 a day, including food and lodging.

Most of them begin around August 29th or 30th. It's always the week before Labor Day. They go three or four days, then have a long holiday weekend.

That's too hard - shopping for books or clothes or food or wine or stationery or furniture? I have one of each. Favourite bookshop is Readings. I ADORE it, it's 100% better than the Borders across the road.

In the room I'm in now, I have two oil paintings of ships, one watercolor on a mountain lake, very large oil painting of a woodland lake scene over the fireplace, and four shelves on either side of the chimney breast all containing milk glass.

Have you ever been to summer camp?

Yep. I've been to Irish college, which is where you can speak nothing but Irish or else get your arse kicked (figuratively... usually) and GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association) camp, where you play nothing but Irish sports or else get your arse kicked (generally literally). And tennis camp, which is self-explanatory.

What was your most memorable holiday?
