New canon always makes me want to read fanfic. I haven't read any (except Theo's) for about a year, but now I'm chomping at the bit.

So it was nice to see Fernwithy pop up with some on my LJ friendslist:

A Place to Rest (http://fernwithy.livejournal.com/620496.html?style=mine#cutid1)
- Harry goes to visit Teddy Lupin for the first time.

Pointless (http://fernwithy.livejournal.com/620019.html#cutid1)
- Teddy confronts Harry about his parents' death.

I loved them both, especially the first. I really like the way she's imagined older!Teddy.

If you're looking for trouble you found it.

I recently found another good After DH canon-compliant story that gives Snape and Harry the chance to resolve several issues (Theo ). Those who actually know Les Miserables say that it does a good job also of fitting the song referenced. (I wouldn't know )

I have no idea, but it is a one-shot set at the end of Harry's life not a retelling of DH. Bohemian Spirit has actually been writing several after-DH stories, but since they are Snape-centric I thought this one would be of the most interest to the whole board.

I really liked this. Thanks for the link, SH. The story I'm betaing is coming along very nicely. This is the author's first fanfic and her writing is getting stronger with each subsequent chapter. We're up to 29 at the moment. I think she has this posted online somewhere, so I'll try to get the link.

I already gathered that there are not too many Snape-fans here but although this story

http://justholdstill.livejournal.com/97076.html

is about Snape it is also a beautiful version of what comes after death. What defines us in the end: memories, wishes, choices. It's all here, short and poignant. Give it a try.

Thanks for the recommendation, Krabat. It was beautifully written, but I must admit I'm not a hundred percent sure what the author was saying.

I almost had another recommendation for the group, but then the author started doing something strange with Harry so I think I'll wait for a few chapters to see if it becomes what I perceive to be a more "canonical" view of Harry.

This is a great after DH Snape-as-ghost story.

Read this short one-shot first, in which Petunia gets hers when Dudley's first-born is a wizard. David Dursley is important to Lost Boys.

That's a great idea. Petunia would be livid with another abnormality in the family. Perhaps she could put it all down to a residual effect of Dudley's tail-- more likely she'd blame the mother.

Or she might be proud... she always envied Lily's powers, and this would be a grandchild afterall.

I just have to recce this three part series I found yesterday. Many on the boards expressed dissatisfaction with the epilogue to DH. This author takes canon from where Rowling left it, and moves the characters, especially Harry and Draco, to a mature contemplation of where things went wrong with the whole House system dividing wizarding society. And in the process, she writes some of the funniest post-DH scenes ever. Rose is a hilarious uber-Hermione, and the author even deals with Scorpius' horrible name! Enjoy!

The Potter children, along with other Hogwarts classmates, have been sent to Durmstrang for one exchange term. Nothing untoward was supposed to happen...
