I don't think I've even heard of the Full Monty.

That just earned me a kiss from Pansy.

Subtitles? Why?

That got me a kiss from Fleur.

Because people in the US don't know what "to top himself" "the full monty" "lassies" "the works" mean, and because they think "tw*t" (not the one with the i) is too rude.

Everyone at my house is too sick to kiss today.

So I'll kiss Eloise Midgen instead. *kisses top of head* There, there, dear. Those pimples will clear in time, I promise!

After reading the first two HPs in US translation, I have no faith in US subtitles.

Snape!

The world darkens slightly; I head over to his desk, he raises his eyes to glare at me...

ME: Um... hello, professor... Heh, well, this is somewhat awkward...

SNAPE: What is?

grimaces. Then quickly plants a peck on top of head, and scarpers without looking back. There is a rising sound behind which may be a human voice, but sounds vaguely like a house falling into a rip in the Earth's crust.

As to the avatar, well, if you girls can all have Alan Rickman...

JKRis, I think Diri just kissed Snape.

Ooooo, the Bloody Baron. Guess I'm back to smooching the spirits.

I wonder how Siobhan feels about you necking with her spouse...

Argh! If only I were 3 seconds earlier with being a smart-ass... But as it is, I kissed Peter Pettigrew, the nasty little rat that he is. I think I'll go back to the ghosts...

Diri, U.S. versions have their purpose. I read that JKR uses the term "getting off" in the books which means a good bit more in the U.S. than the U.K. Although probably closer to the activities of real life teenagers and truer to most fanfiction out there. There will forever be the debate over this topic. Although they probably could have dealt with it in footnotes.

Now, onto kissing. It shall be Victor. Pucker up, Krum.

Don't know about that Jo. I've been reading my UK editions the last few times through the series and I don't remember seeing "getting off" that it could have the connotations you mean.

Neville. Such a sweet boy. Just lacks confidence.

Congrats on your latest case review, AMC! You've come a long way down the road to recovery. Unfortunately you were in reverse.

Yes indeedy - confoundedly confunded. I'm waiting to finally reach just plain Looney, which will inevitably be my final diagnosis.

Ha! Just when I gave up on getting anyone good, it's Lupin again, waiting for a kiss. With no moustache... I'm going to enjoy this... *Grabs Lupin and disappears*

"Getting off" can mean a good deal more in the UK too ("getting off with someone" often means ... lots), it depends on the context.

Icky, Eloise.

I must edit that spelling mistake ...

Stares at mistletoe

Chances are, I'd be better off eating it than kissing whoever passes by, but here goes...

Ollivander. Well, no doubt our moment had some deep and sonorous undertones of which I am as yet unaware.

Success! Charlie Weasley! Hope this is that start of another Weasley streak. I'm still missing Bill, Percy and George.

Did you know there is a character named Lockhart in Robinson Crusoe?

Ooo I got a Hagger kiss! Don't tell me what that was stuck in his beard. I'd rather not have too many details.
